Staying entertained at home has never been easier with eBooks, audiobooks and movies provided through platforms indyreads and Kanopy, available for free to members of Big Sky Libraries!
Indyreads is an exciting new platform developed by the State Library of NSW providing Big Sky Libraries members 24/7 access to a range of eBooks and audiobooks, including fiction titles by well-known and popular authors, poetry collections, cookbooks, educational books and much more.
Indyreads is a statewide consortia collection of 11,000 new ebooks and audiobooks including books from independent Australian and international publishers as well as self-published titles.
If ebooks and audio are not your thing, Big Sky Libraries members also have free access to Kanopy, a popular
streaming service showcasing more than 30,000 films!
Kanopy prides itself on thoughtful entertainment, specialising in streaming films of unique social and cultural value; films that are difficult to find, programming that features diversity and a wide array of foreign language films and films on race, and current affairs.
Usually Big Sky Libraries members can watch up to 10 films per month using play credits however until 31 May, Kanopy is offering credit free viewing on Kanopy Kids and The Great Courses collection.
Indyreads and Kanopy are available on the Big Sky Libraries website for members to access any time – www.bsl.nsw.gov.au through the COLLECTIONS
How to access indyreads: From the eLibrary container select indyreads eBooks & eAudio;
You will be redirected to the indyreads website where you can browse the collection of titles. To borrow, you’ll be prompted with a log in screen where you’ll need to select your library (Big Sky Libraries), and enter your library card number and pin. Indyreads can also be accessed on indyreads app, available from App Store for Apple devices and from Google Play for Android devices.
How to access Kanopy: To access Kanopy click ‘Movie Streaming’ under the ‘Our Collections’ tab on the Big Sky Libraries website, or follow this link: https://bsl.nsw.gov.au/movie-streaming/. This webpage will explain on how to sign up to Kanopy for free using your Big Sky Libraries membership, how it works and the stream options for the platform.
