Eurobodalla’s outdoor playgrounds open up today, and as COVID-19 restrictions ease, the Council’s customer service facilities are reopening too.
From Monday 1 June, Council's administration building at Moruya will open to the public with additional safety measures for staff and customers. Surf Beach, Moruya and Brou tips will resume normal opening hours on the same day.
And while the front doors are open, there are changes. Residents are encouraged to continue doing business with Council over the phone or online and avoid visiting if possible.
Council’s General Manager Dr Catherine Dale says whatever you do, call 4474 1000 first.
“That way our customer service staff can determine if we can help you over the phone or online, saving you a visit,” she said.
“If you're coming to see a particular staff member, please phone them first as they may be working from home and not available in the building.”
Visitors will be asked to sanitise hands on arrival, not touch the counters, and stand behind lines marked on the floor. Payments by card are preferred rather than cash. Clear screens will shortly be installed on the counters as a further safety measure.
For now, only one duty officer will be available between 10am and 3pm each day for development enquiries at the front counter. Development assessment planners, surveyors and engineers will not be available for in-person counter enquiries.
Surf Beach and Brou tips resume their normal operating hours after being closed to the public during the COVID-19 lockdown to allow bushfire clean up to take place. Moruya waste transfer station returns to five days per week. Residents are advised that weekends are the best time to visit Surf Beach and Brou tips, when there are fewer bushfire clean-up trucks on the move. Expect to queue on weekdays. The buy-back shop at Surf Beach tip will not be open.
The three libraries will reopen the following Monday, 9 June, with reduced hours and no more than 10 patrons inside and for a maximum of 30 minutes each. Click and collect continues to be available, along with online resources like audiobooks. More information about visiting libraries will be provided next week.
Parks and sporting fields are now open for non-contact training and up to 10 people in a gathering, along with skate parks, picnic shelters and fish cleaning tables.
Narooma indoor swimming pool is closed to the public with an exception for squad swimming only. Batemans Bay and Moruya outdoor pools are closed for winter.
Council tennis courts are available for casual hire, coaching and competitions, with players following Tennis Australia COVID-19 guidelines.
Council’s depots at Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay will stay closed for now, along with Batemans Bay Visitor Centre, community centres, halls and recreation centres, and the youth cafes at Narooma and Moruya.
The Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre in Moruya is closed, reopening July.
Batemans Bay Beach Resort and Council campgrounds at Mystery Bay and Dalmeny will also reopen from 1 June.
