Changes to Shire Services and Facilities

In response to the State Government’s announcement moving to Phase 3 easing of COVID-19 restrictions, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River has reviewed its facilities and services with the following changes and updates:   Playgrounds, Skateparks, Public Fitness Equipment and BBQs Will reopen from Saturday 6 June. The Scout Hall at the Margaret River Youth Precinct will also be open for bookings.   Margaret River Recreation Centre From Saturday 6 June, the Recreation Centre will begin to operate under Phase 3 easing of restrictions. The number of people permitted in the centre at any one time will increase to 300, with a maximum of 100 in any one area.

The gym and indoor courts will reopen from Saturday 6 June at 8am. Sporting Clubs using Indoor Courts are encouraged to contact the Recreation Centre to arrange bookings.   Group fitness classes and the pool are currently open. Bookings for group fitness are still required via recreation.amrshire.wa.gov.au

The Recreation Centre will be operating a new COVID-safety cleaning schedule during the day. This will require the centre to close for 15 minutes, three times a day for a thorough clean. Closures will take place 8.45am-9.am, 11.45am-12pm and 2.45pm-3.00pm.

Creche will be available Monday to Friday between 9am -10.30am

For further details visit recreation.amrshire.wa.gov.au   Augusta Gym Options for a staged reopening of the gym are being considered, given the State Government requirements for 24 hour gyms to be staffed. We are anticipating opening from 15 June with restricted hours, allowing members to book gym sessions in advance. Council Meetings Community members will be able to attend Council Meetings in person, with the next Ordinary Council Meeting scheduled for Wednesday 10 June at 5.30pm in Augusta.   Margaret River HEART Will be open to gatherings of 100 people or less from Saturday 6 June. Margaret River Civic Administration Centre Will continue to be open Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm.   Augusta Shire Office Will continue to be open Mondays and Fridays, 9am-3pm   Holiday Parks Turner Holiday Park and Alexandra Bridge Campground are open. Flinders Bay Holiday Park will remain closed as part of usual seasonal closures and will be reviewed subject to booking demand.   Shire President Ian Earl said the State Government’s announcement was a welcome news, allowing people to get back to more of their usual activities.

“I’m sure many kids across the Shire are looking forward to using playgrounds and skate parks this coming weekend,” he said.
