Dixon Field draft master plan available for comment

Council has released the draft Dixon Field Master Plan for community feedback.

The sporting complex in Gisborne is used by local sporting clubs and groups and provides a major area of public open space for the community.

Developed with the help of user groups and sporting clubs, the draft master plan outlines current and future uses, priorities and aspirations for the site.

Key proposed upgrades include improvements to the soccer, tennis, cricket, athletics and croquet sporting facilities, as well as new walking paths, upgraded car parking and revegetation works along Jacksons Creek.

Mayor, Cr Janet Pearce said the master plan improvements aimed to better position Dixon Field to attract higher profile funding and events in the future.

“This staged project is about providing the community with more opportunities for recreation and leisure activities in open spaces, which is a key priority in our Council Plan,” Cr Pearce said.

“But before that it’s very important that the community has a chance to provide feedback on the draft master plan. We encourage you all to get on line and have your say.”

The draft plan is available for public comment until Tuesday 30 June.

Feedback will be considered before a final version comes before Council for endorsement.
