Supporting our community by livestreaming local talent
Blue Mountains 4 Jun 2020

Council is pleased to present Love Local Live.

Love Local Live is Council’s first ever series of local events that will be brought to the community via live streaming. Each week we’ll be showcasing local talent and supporting local businesses and our creative community.

The series will be held every Monday night at 7pm for 6 weeks, starting on Monday 15 June with Linda Mizzi. Linda is a songwriter and storyteller from Katoomba, who brings folk music to life with disarmingly honest and quirky lyrics, and infuses her sound with strong undertones of country and blues.

Blue Mountains City is the inaugural NSW City of the Arts. A large part of our workforce is employed in arts, entertainment and creative jobs. Love Local Live is one small way Council can support our creative communities, many of whom have been hit particularly hard during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “While restrictions are slowly easing, public gatherings are still limited and we understand many in our community are hesitant to venture out into crowds.

“That’s why Council is still looking for creative and safe ways to engage with you.”

Council had planned to hold several events across the mountains as part of our Love Local campaign supporting businesses. But, like for many of you, COVID-19 has meant we’ve needed to rethink some of our plans.

“Love Local Live is an extension of the Love Local campaign we launched in January,” Mayor Greenhill said.

“It was initially designed to support local businesses and our economy through bush fire recovery, but has also become vital in the wake of COVID-19 and the additional pressures on our arts and creative community as well as the business community.

“The new Love Local Live series will bring a little entertainment to you, wherever you are, while supporting and promoting local businesses and creatives.”

Tune in to Council’s Facebook page Mondays at 7pm (from 15 June).

Love Local Live is proudly presented and supported by Blue Mountains City Council in partnership with Fusion Boutique and Shelter Studios.
