Wyndham City is partnering with local businesses on the road to recovery by providing $1.5 million in grants.
The WynLocal Business Recovery and Growth Program, part of the $5 million WynLocal economic support package announced by Council in March, will provide funding to eligible Wyndham businesses with grants to help them adapt and grow as they emerge from the Covid-19 shutdown.
Wyndham City’s Future Focussed Economy portfolio holder Cr Walter Villagonzalo said supporting the resurgence of the local Wyndham economy was a strong priority for Council.
“There are three levels of funding on offer; $5,000, $10,000 and $20,000 based on the business size - measured by the number of fulltime employees,” Cr Villagonzalo said.
“This strategic approach will ensure successful applicants will be given a great opportunity to implement initiatives that focus on recovery and longer-term growth as we transition to a post Covid-19 economy.”
Businesses willing to invest in new initiatives that foster entrepreneurship and innovation including the resourcing of digital technology to drive market reach, investment in professional development and the planning and implementation of alternative service models are encouraged to submit an application.”
“The grants program opens on the 27th May and eligible Wyndham businesses have until 5pm Thursday 11 June to complete the online application.”
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Josh Gilligan affirmed the importance of the Business Recovery and Growth program as part of the overall WynLocal economic support package.
“We’re committed to supporting local business and that’s why we have initiated WynLocal in response to the Covid-19,” Cr Gilligan said.
“The Wyndham Open campaign and business directory has been rolled out to encourage our residents to buy from Wyndham businesses whenever they are able to do so.”
“Council put its money where its mouth is by procuring the services of 12 Wyndham professional services advisors to deliver free specialist consultations to participating Wyndham businesses.”
“We also have a dedicated business support enquiry form and phone contact for local businesses to get in touch with our Economic Growth team.”
