Port Campbell VIC open, libraries to follow

Published on 05 June 2020

The Port Campbell Visitor Information Centre has reopened in time for the Queen’s Birthday long weekend after being closed due to coronavirus.

The VIC reopened today, after Council’s Customer Service returned to normal hours on Monday. Libraries across the Shire will reopen, with limited services and reduced hours, on Tuesday.

Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mason said physical distancing measures and increased cleaning were in place at all facilities to keep customers and staff safe.

“We ask people to keep 1.5 metres or two arms’ lengths between them and other people,” Mr Mason said.

“Each of our venues has signs showing the maximum number of people allowed in their various spaces to ensure the minimum four square metres per person, in line with Government guidelines.

“It’s great that we can offer these services again and we encourage people to take notice of requirements in each particular space, such as signs and floor markings to help with distancing and direction of travel. Hand sanitiser is available, and we encourage people to use it when they arrive and when they leave.”

Mr Mason said face to face Planning and Building Services would return the following week.

“If you need to speak with someone from our Planning and Building Services Team in person, we ask that you call first and make an appointment,” he said. “That way we can be ready for your arrival and can manage traffic in the shared spaces to keep safe physical distancing.”

Firearms licence photos are now available, as are all VicRoads agency services except learner’s tests, which are awaiting further advice from VicRoads.

Mr Mason reminded people they could call Customer Service on 5593 7100 or the Visitor Information Centre on 1300 137 255. “If you want to get in touch with your local libraries, Customer Service can put you in touch, or you can search for your local library on Facebook.”

Council services that have been closed due to coronavirus restrictions will be progressively re-opened, subject to the advice of the Chief Health Officer, public compliance with restrictions, and Government testing to understand the movement of coronavirus.
