The City of Parramatta, in partnership with Sydney Olympic Park Authority, is putting Western Sydney artists and venues on the world stage on international Make Music Day on Sunday 21 June.
The free event, which runs from 11am to 6pm, will be live-streamed from a number of well-known venues across the Parramatta Local Government Area, including Qudos Bank Arena, the Olympic Cauldron at Sydney Olympic Park, Old Government House, Riverside Theatres, and Western Sydney University.
“It’s fantastic to see some of our local artists take the stage at a number of iconic Western Sydney locations and share their passion and talents with audiences near and far,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said.
“The audiences may not be able to attend in person due to COVID-19 restrictions, but I have no doubt they’ll be rocking out in their living rooms and enjoying the show just as much as they would if they were actually there.”
The line-up includes R&B and future soul singer-songwriter Ngaiire; soul and R&B singer Clarissa Mei; hip-hop artists L Fresh the Lion, Raj Mahal, and Nardean; and pop-fusion performer Stevan.
“Thank you to all those involved for continuing to enrich our lives with joy and music – it’s especially appreciated during these unusual and challenging times,” Cr Dwyer said.
Tony Nesbitt, Sydney Olympic Park Authority’s Events and Activation Manager, said they were delighted to be working with the City of Parramatta and Qudos Bank Arena to bring Make Music Day 2020 to life in Western Sydney.
“During this challenging time for the arts industry, it’s great to shine a light on the wealth of talent from the Western Sydney music scene at Australia’s premier concert venue here at Sydney Olympic Park,” Mr Nesbitt said.
“As part of this global initiative, we’ll be live-streaming great acts from the Arena that reflect the style, energy and passion of the local scene to online audiences everywhere. Above all, we want to support our local artists and show that, despite everything, music endures.”
The Make Music Day events in Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park are now in their third year.
