Council Meeting Snapshot - 10 June 2020

To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 10 June 2020 ordinary meeting.

Vibrant Communities Council noted the Warragul Leisure Centre Stadium concept design options and supported further consultation with the Project Reference Group and user Groups of the Warragul Leisure Centre to commence a detailed design for a two-court development.  Council will also seek grant funding opportunities for the development. Council adopted the Cycling Feasibility Study and the associated projects to boost cycling opportunities and tourism in Baw Baw Shire. Council endorsed the commencement of public consultation for the draft Precinct Structure Plan Review for Warragul and Drouin. Thriving Economy Council agreed to place the draft Community Local Law on exhibition for six weeks to gain further community input. An amended motion was passed to consider the development of an additional local law to enhance controls over significant vegetation following community feedback. Council noted the Draft Recreational Vehicle (RV) Strategy 2020-2023 and endorsed the community engagement plan for the draft strategy. Organisational Excellence Council adopted the Open Space Maintenance Standards and accompanying register. Council agreed to continue to maintain open space areas in line with Council’s standards and policy position, including investigating alternatives to reduce the reliance on the use of chemicals for maintenance purposes. Council also endorsed a further twelve-month chemical-free trial to the end of June 2021 for Queen St Park, Warragul; McGregor Park, Trafalgar; and Hearn St Park, Drouin What's next?

The next Council meeting will be from 5.30pm on Wednesday 24 June 2020 at the West Gippsland Arts Centre. At this meeting, Council will endorse the Draft Annual Budget 2020/21 and key documents.
