Jacka Park in Freshwater is a popular place for local families as kids enjoy the playground, ride their bikes, skateboards and scooters along the path.

Soccer and rugby balls are also are kicked by many on the grassed area and plenty of parents choose to host children’s birthday parties at the community venue.

It is also home to the very special Jacka Park Memorial Garden and Wall of Remembrance, commemorating those who have served in conflicts in which Australia has fought.

And yet, as the locals have regularly pointed out, it has always been quite a trek to the local shops or elsewhere if you need to use a bathroom.

Not anymore!

Council have recently converted an unused gardener’s storage shed on site into an amenities block. The conversion of this building now provides a unisex accessible amenity and unisex ambulant toilet.

We hope this will bring many more residents back to the park and allow them to stay for longer.

Council also would like to thank the Friends of Freshwater Group and the sub branch for their patience and advocacy in getting this project across the line.
