Council has taken on board all of the feedback and incorporated this into the
The community is encouraged to view and comment on the revised masterplan, which will be available for comment from Wednesday 10 June to Thursday 9 July.
Deputy Mayor and Wyreena Ward Councillor Marijke Graham said the revised masterplan would help guide the future redevelopment of the precinct, with a focus on improved connectivity of key aspects of the area, including recreational hubs, retail, Croydon Town Square, services and public transport.
“From past discussions with key user groups and extensive feedback received from those who have participated in our public consultations, we’ve been able to capture the community’s vision for the precinct,” Cr Graham said.
“The revised Croydon Community Wellbeing Precinct Masterplan responds to feedback from the community by providing additional parking, maintaining the heritage aspects of the precinct, providing more usable open space, while providing purpose build community hubs to cater for the needs of our community groups,” Cr Graham said.
“The revised Masterplan will create opportunities for social connection, improved health and wellbeing, linkages to our cultural and heritage history, as well as flexibility to meet current and future needs of the community,” she said.
The precinct currently contains a significant number of Council’s community facilities, which accommodate a diverse range of sporting and community groups, including Aquahub, Croydon Library, Maternal and Child Health Centre, EV’s Youth Centre, Maroondah Occasional Care and Keystone Hall.
Initial preparation for the masterplan commenced over 18 months ago, and included consultation with key user groups currently located within the precinct. Further consultation opportunities will be available on specific elements of the masterplan as the project develops through the subsequent design phases.
“I encourage all residents and stakeholders, particularly those who have contributed their thoughts and suggestions during the previous consultation process, to view the revised masterplan and tell us what they think,” she said.
