Eurobodalla Council’s fleet of pool cars has moved exclusively to hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
Four vehicles were purchased in July last year as a positive move towards a greener fleet; reducing emissions, overall fuel consumption and cost. Fleet management officer Karen Ison said the vehicles included safety that ensured Council was putting safe vehicles on local roads.
“Now the fleet meets community expectations, with a plug-in hybrid electric Mitsubishi Outlander, two Toyota RAV 4 GX hybrids and a Toyota Camry Hybrid Ascent.” Ms Ison said.
“All of the vehicles were purchased locally and branded with Council signage for easy recognition. Be sure to look out for these vehicles in the community.”
Ms Ison said Council would continue to research electric and other low or zero emission vehicles as part of its commitment to reducing emissions and finding value for money.
“Technical advances move quickly in the fast-paced automotive industry,” she said.
Eurobodalla Council is currently working on its Zero Emissions Vehicle Strategy to detail its short, medium and long term approach to technological disruption in relation to vehicles.
