Commuters on South Head Road will need to allow extra travel time as work continues on the next stage of the shared pathway between Moruya and Moruya Heads.
This time last year, Eurobodalla Council built a 190 metre section of shared pathway on the southern side of the road, extending east from Keightley Street. Work’s manager Tony Swallow said work had recommenced following the resolution of land acquisition and other challenges.
“We’ve secured sufficient funding to improve the tie-in arrangement near Keightley Street and commence earthworks on the section working back from Congo Road toward town,” Mr Swallow said.
Our focus is to undertake the widening and earthworks west of Congo Road to create width for the off road shared pathway. That means two worksites with traffic control in a short section of road; commuters can expect short delays.”
Mr Swallow said the shared pathway was a large project requiring Council staff to work through design, environmental and land-acquisition challenges.
“Once finalized, this investigation work will be used for future grant applications,” he said.
The current works are funded through the NSW Government’s Active Transport Program. For more information on the project, visit https://www.esc.nsw.gov.au/inside-council/project-and-exhibitions/major-projects-and-works/south-head-road-shared-pathway
