There has never been a better time to rethink how we support local businesses in our community and the Local-Is-More campaign is here to guide you. The initiative, which aims to arm our community with tips, tricks and most importantly, reasons to support and choose local first, has come together as a combined effort between the Shire, the Margaret River Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Transition Margaret River. Shire Sustainable Economy Officer, Saul Cresswell explains that the “choose local” concept is not something new, but remembering the benefits that thinking local brings to a small community like Augusta Margaret River is something that often gets lost when we’re going about our day to day lives.
"Local businesses depend on local trade to keep our community engaged and thriving and they now need our support more then ever to rebuild and succeed after the challenges experienced in the first half of the year." “A website and Instagram page has been launched which enables residents in our region to be part of the stories behind the businesses, understand how supporting local inevitably benefits each of us personally and points towards great local resources to help us on our localism journey," he said. Residents and local businesses are encouraged to follow @local_is_more on Instagram and start spreading #localismore across their own social media to support the campaign.
