Burnie Regional Art Gallery to Re-Open

The Burnie Regional Art Gallery will re-open to the public for limited days and hours from Monday 22 June at 10am.

Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said, “We are pleased to be able to open the Gallery to the public once again since closing in March due to covid-19 restrictions. It has been a difficult time for many people in our community, re-opening public venues is a step toward our new normal.

“The first exhibition will be A Decade Later: the Pulp Story that will highlight artworks from the permanent collections.

“This exhibition is a snapshot of that time ten years ago when many lives changed and includes photographs and images by local artists, some who worked in the mill. Today Burnie is the gateway to beautiful North West Tasmania but the closing of the mill ended an era that had defined our city for 72-years.”

Also showing will be CLAUDIO POLLES for one week only. This exciting exhibition is by the Italian-Tasmanian artist who has his heart and his art practice in both countries.

To keep everyone safe and to comply with state and commonwealth guidelines, the Gallery will reopen to limited numbers of visitors for Monday, Wednesday and Friday only from 10am to 4.30pm. Entry will be free but please book via Burnie Tickets (burnietickets.com.au). Visitors will be asked to provide their name and contact details when booking or on entry (via an available iPAD) to support ccovid-19 contact tracing.

A Decade Later: the Pulp Story will remain in place until Friday 31 July. The Burnie Regional Art Gallery is a Burnie City Council initiative and is assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts.
