With tourists from afar still struggling to get to out part of the world, the Mount Isa Tourism Association is encouraging locals to fill the gap. MITA has developed a novel initiative to get people out and about and supporting our local tourism businesses. They want people to try an 'Outback Pub Parmi' either by staying local, or jumping in the car and go to your next town. "We know in the outback how far we will travel for a coldie, so saddle up and visit your neighbours and search for the perfect Outback Pub Parmi," MITA said on their new Facebook page to promote the initiative. "It could be at the local roadhouse, cafe, pub, restaurant- anywhere that's sells them." "It might just convince you to go to Julia Creek, Karumba, Boulia or Winton for the weekend," MITA said. "I wonder who will go the furthest to get into a Parmi?" MITA said they would encourage places to advertise what they have to offer on the Facebook page as well. "So let's all support each other through these crazy times, go on.. get out there," MITA said. "Wrap your laughing gear around a Pub Parmi - you know they make you happy."
