Have your say on strengthening Ipswich communities after COVID-19

16 June 2020

Ipswich City Council is inviting residents and ratepayers to have their say on how to build and strengthen our community.

Council believes that conversations with the community will help define where it can assist and advocate for recovery out of COVID-19.

Mayor Teresa Harding said council has already been working hard with the Ipswich business community to recover from the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

”Now we encourage the broader community to discuss other challenges going forward. Your experiences during the pandemic and throughout recovery will provide valuable information as we try to get Ipswich back on track,” she said.

Public input will also help shape components of council’s Strengthening Communities Plan. This plan will inform ways that council can play a role in building stronger communities.

The recovery process from the pandemic is expected to take some time and the community is invited to play its part on that road to recovery.

Council’s Strengthening Communities Plan will be a two-stage process.

Broad community engagement is occurring through targeted community conversations and anyone can have their say via Shape Your Ipswich. Council is keen to learn about challenges, impacts and possibilities brought about due to COVID-19.

The results of the engagement will then be reviewed to inform the next stage of council’s community recovery work.

Council will report back to the community on consultation findings and next steps around September 2020.

Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions by sharing your experiences and thoughts.
