Bridge Closure – Upper Turon Road Turon Gates

Lithgow City Council will be effecting an immediate closure of the Upper Turon Road bridge.
An assessment and inspection of the bridge on Upper Turon Road in the vicinity of Turon Gates has raised concerns of the structural integrity of the asset. Due to the risk this poses to public safety, the bridge has been closed with immediate effect.
The community and public are required to cross the river through the adjacent causeway, until a temporary bridge can be installed as a matter of priority in early July 2020. Once this temporary bridge is installed, Council will commence the design and construction of a permanent replacement bridge.
As works progress, please be aware that traffic conditions will change in this area. Motorists are advised to exhibit caution and advanced warning signage will be in place to warn all motorists. Council appreciates the community’s assistance, patience and understanding in this matter.
