Council to reopen community halls

Blue Mountains City Council is pleased to announce that it will reopen community halls to regular hirers from Monday, 22 June.

To comply with the State Government’s latest Public Health Order, regular hall hirers will be required to submit a COVID-19 Safety Plan to Council before they make their first booking. 

The facilities to reopen include:  

•    Blaxland Community Centre •    Faulconbridge Community Hall •    Glenbrook Community Hall and Theatre (excludes Cinema) •    Mid Mountains Community Centre •    Wentworth Falls School of Arts •    Weroona Park Facility •    Warrimoo Citizens Hall •    Blackheath Community Hall •    Mount Wilson Community Hall •    Megalong Valley Hall •    Mount Riverview Community Hall •    Katoomba Leura Community Centre •    Lawson Mechanics Institute •    Gloria Park Pavilion

Halls will be available to new hirers and casual bookings from 6 July.

“I’m really pleased to see this next phase of council facilities open to the community,” Mayor Mark Greenhill said. “After so many months where we’ve all been forced to be isolated from one another, opening community halls will give people the opportunity to come together and reconnect.”

“While we welcome the opportunity for the community to make use of these facilities once again, we must still adhere to the NSW Government guidelines for social distancing and public gatherings to ensure community safety.”

Hire will not be permitted until a COVID-19 Safety Plan has been received by Council.
