Kyneton Museum’s doors will reopen on Friday 26 June with a new local exhibition, Unique by Nature, United by History. Appropriate measures will be in place to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff due to the current pandemic.
Museum staff and community curators have collaborated for the exhibition, to present stories from Malmsbury, Kyneton, Carlsruhe, Romsey, Lancefield, Gisborne and Mt Macedon that are geographically and socially embedded in the history of the Macedon Ranges.
The temporary exhibition is expected to delight locals and visitors alike, who can also browse the museum’s static displays including upstairs in the bank manager’s residence, the old kitchen, the laundry, machinery sheds and gardens.
Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said it had been an eventful time for the museum.
“We’ve been busy putting in place the necessary COVIDSafe requirements to re-open with this exciting local exhibition,” Ms Stork said.
“While the restrictions will change the way we will connect and interact with you at the museum, we are committed to making sure the community, visitors and our staff are safe.
“We’ll be monitoring visitor numbers to allow for social distancing, have increased cleaning services, will provide sanitiser on site and expect visitors to provide contact details for tracing purposes.
“We also progressed capital works during lockdown, with the old Pig Shed, Theadan Cottage, fencing and the original stables all receiving some attention.”
Kyneton Museum is located at 67 Piper Street, will return to usual opening hours of 11am to 4pm Friday to Sunday, with standard entry fees applying from Friday 26 June.
