City of Parramatta is working to deliver the NSW Government funded Parramatta Road Urban Amenity Improvement Program (PRUAIP) that includes the Alfred Street Cycleway.
Council is inviting feedback on the proposed Cycleway in Granville from 22nd June until the 20th of July 2020.
To enable the Cycleway, Council is proposing to install the following traffic facilities in 2021:
A separated bi-directional cycleway and shared user path on the eastern side of Alfred St between Parramatta Road and Eleanor St, Granville. Dedicated left turn and right turn lanes on Alfred St south into Parramatta Road, Granville Upgrade the existing pedestrian refuge islands at the roundabout Alfred St/Gray St (eastern/western approach) Granville, at the roundabout Alfred St/Eleanor St (eastern approach), Granville. Remove the existing pedestrian refuge islands at the roundabout Alfred St/Gray St (northern/southern approach) Granville, at the roundabout Alfred St/Eleanor St (southern approach) Granville, and replace with painted linemarking. Modifications to bus stops servicing the 909 bus route: - Stops on Parramatta Road moved to bus zones on Alfred St north of Parramatta Rd, Granville. - Two stops on the western side of Alfred St between A’Beckett St and Gray St reduced to a single bus zone north of Gray St. - Stop on the eastern side of Alfred St south of A’Beckett St shifted north by 25m. Turn restrictions for vehicles over 12.5m: - Eleanor to Alfred - left turn from West to North due to clashes with existing island in Alfred St North. - Alfred to Eleanor - left turn from North to East due to construction of proposed refuge island in Eleanor St East. - Alfred to Eleanor - left turn from South to West due to existing island in Eleanor St West. - A’Beckett to Alfred – left turn East to North due to construction of proposed refuge island in Alfred St. - Alfred to Gray – left turn from South to West due to construction of proposed island in Gray St West. - Alfred to Gray – left turn from North to East due to construction of proposed island in Gray St East.Written submissions can be made from the 22nd June until the 20th of July 2020. Any concerns and comments regarding the proposal will be carefully considered and amendments made to the design as appropriate. The outcomes of consultation and a recommendation will be reported to the Parramatta Traffic Committee in August.
