City of Swan welcomes the return of community groups and sports

Community groups and sporting clubs have been given the green light to recommence their seasons and activities at City of Swan facilities, following the commencement of Phase 3 of the State Government’s COVID-19 roadmap.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said he was delighted to see groups and clubs back using the City’s many facilities this week.

“The City has taken a considered approach to reopening its facilities and in-person services to ensure our community’s health and wellbeing are the highest priority and I thank our community groups and sporting clubs for their patience,” Cr Bailey said.

After months of adapting to the physical distancing restrictions and keeping active in isolation, Be Active Together Fitness Instructor Janet Alexander said members were full of enthusiasm on hearing the news.

“Be Active Together is held at Pickett Park Hall in Bullsbrook, and we’re excited to be back at the hall and back together,” Janet said.

“Not only is this class about physical exercise and staying active, it’s also about companionship, encouragement and helping to motivate others in a supportive environment.

“It has been greatly missed by everyone and we are looking forward to getting their bodies moving again,” she said.

Each City of Swan facility has a COVIDSafe plan and the certificate is visible as you enter the building or complex.

“Our highest priority is ensuring physical distancing is maintained, good cleaning and hygiene practices are in place and the two square metre rule is applied,” Cr Bailey said.

“While we will be maintaining a register of each attendee for each session, I encourage everyone to download the COVIDSafe app.”
