Tradies are hard at work transforming three cabins, the games room and landscaping at Currawong - the beloved holiday haven on the shores of Pittwater.
Live-in Currawong managers, Anna and Roger, are excited to see the heritage listed cottages restored and are looking forward to welcoming guests back for the summer holidays.
“The restoration is a brilliant thing. We believe this is just the start of a great new era for Currawong!
“The cabins will retain their original simplicity, and now they will provide a more comfortable space for our guests to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
“There is definitely a growing sense of excitement and anticipation among our guests. We’re sure they will be thrilled with the changes.”
Regular guest Ruth Richardson says Currawong is a hidden gem.
“We have been going to Currawong at least annually for nearly 40 years. Put simply it is a special piece of paradise. We love the simplicity of the site.
“We still love jumping off the wharf and making your own fun. We’ve made some really great memories here.”
Day-trippers are still welcome to visit this little gem via the ferry or private vessels and are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy a beautiful sunny winter’s day at Currawong.
Guests and visitors should be aware that access is limited to the wharf and recreation areas along the foreshore and that work takes place during the day, Mondays to Fridays, across the site.
Contractors arrive by water and materials are unloaded via the wharves and the beachfront at various times.
Our website will also soon be updated with information about the long and colourful history of this State Heritage listed site.
These important restoration and improvement works will ensure Currawong retains its heritage value and remains a family-friendly venue for years to come. Read more about the work.
We look forward to you visiting the site and spending a few days when the works are completed.
