Early entries to Burnie Print Prize 2021

Two early-bird artists have already submitted entries for the biennial Burnie Print Prize 2021 that will exhibit in March next year.

Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said, “The Burnie Print Prize is one of Australia’s richest and most prestigious printmaking awards with a major prize of $15,000 that is co-sponsored with the Friends of Burnie Regional Art Gallery. In 2019 we had 137 entries from which 63 artworks were selected for exhibition. Printmakers entered from all six states, the ACT, Northern Territory and New Zealand and the first prize was given to Sydney’s consummate print-maker Rew Hanks for his technically outstanding linocut Gone Fishing East of Faskrudsfjordur .”

This year we have put our entry forms online, with entries already coming in. We are once again planning an exhibition and competition of the best quality of this demanding art form for our community.”

The online entry is now open and will close 9 October 2020. Selected entries will be displayed at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery from 26 March to the 2 May 2021. The winner will be announced on the opening night.
