Ten thousand trees, shrubs and groundcovers were given away to 450 residents in June as part of the City of Swan's annual Rural Properties Revegetation Program.
The plants grown by Trillion Trees will provide shade, improve air quality and offer habitat and food for local wildlife.
This year was the largest turn out to date, even with COVID-19 restrictions changing the event to a no-contact drive through service instead of the usual festive community event. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this happen!
The Rural Revegetation Program is a key part of the City’s strategy to conserve and improve our biodiversity, with an estimated 130,000 plants given away to date.
PS - Winter is a great time for planting native trees in Perth because of the regular rainfall!
Want to help make our community greener? Make the most of your verge or garden with free shredded mulch provided by the City.
Residents can head down to the Bullsbrook Recycling Centre or upcoming Recyclable Goods Drop-off Day (Saturday, July 25) and collect up to half a cubic metre of mulch, subject to availability.
