Plastic Free July- Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

Plastic Free July is designed to help people refuse single-use plastic and improve recycling practices. The challenge continues to drive positive change through simple solutions that help communities live more sustainably for example using reusable cups, water bottles and bags, and refusing to buy produce wrapped in plastic.

As a community let’s all get involved and focus on minimising our use of plastics in our day-to-day lives. By making simple changes such as reusable plastic bags or re-usable coffee cups and making these changes habits, the reduction of plastic pressures on landfills is reduced significantly.

Last year an estimated 250 million people across the globe took part in Plastic Free July. Lithgow Council Mayor Councillor Ray Thompson said, “I urge all residents of the Lithgow Local Government Area to get involved and limit if not stop the use of single-use plastics. If we all reduce our use of plastic items this goes some way to protecting our environment and reducing significant pressures on our landfills.”
