Central Highlands’ residents can now access free green mulch to spruce up their winter gardens.
The Central Highlands Regional Council was left with lots of green waste after the February storms in Emerald.
In a win-win recycling situation for both council and the community, this waste is now mulched and ready for collection.
The mulch is available from the Emerald Transfer Station on Glasson Street from Tuesday to Sunday between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm.
The mulch can be self-loaded into a car, trailer or utility and up to one cubic metre is available per household/per ratepayer while stockpiles last.
Council asks that customers bring their own containers, tools and personal protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, eyewear and closed-in shoes, to self-load.
Customers must also make sure their load is covered before they leave site.
