Planned fire hazard reduction burn – Capella, Saturday 4 July 2020

Posted on July 3, 2020

Capella’s Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) urban brigade is planning a controlled hazard reduction burn of council reserve land in Capella tomorrow (Saturday 4 July 2020,) weather permitting.

The burn is planned for reserve land along the reserve east of Capella from Yan Yan Road to Langton Street.

The purpose of the burn is to reduce fuel loads and protect residents from uncontrolled fire as the area has been determined a high risk by the Central Highlands Regional Council and QFES for this summer season.

People in the area may see smoke and ash throughout the burn and are encouraged to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property.

The burn is part of the QFES and Rural Fire Services Operation Cool Burn 2020.

For further information, please contact council’s Coordinator Disaster Management and Community Resilience, Glenn Bell, on 1300 242 686 during business hours.
