The Planning, Environment and Community Service’s (PECS) Engaged Communities Department is currently seeking an enthusiastic people-person to join their fast-paced team in the role of fixed term part time Community Relations Officer (Youth), based in the Isaac Region. This short-term contract is expected to cease Friday 4 October 2020.
Reporting to the Manager Community Engagement, Programs and Events, this position is responsible for the development of resilient communities by identifying the needs of residents and developing and implementing relevant programs and strategies to meet these needs. Its intended to foster positive relationships between Council, schools, the wider local community and the youth population (age 0-17) and deliver targeted programs which support this age group. Working with the Manager Engaged Communities and Manager Community Engagement Programs and Events, this position will be required to identify and work towards implementing interim and longer-term sustainable solutions for the Dysart Your Centre and the Moranbah Youth and Community Centre.
The successful candidate will have:
A strong community-focused ethos and be committed to Isaac Regional Council’s Vision and Values and the PECS Noble Purpose; Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and organisational skills; Strong face-to-face engagement capacity, including developed negotiation and influencing skills; Established knowledge and experience of community development and/or community engagement principles and methodologies; Experience in developing and implementing community events and capacity building projects; Strong understanding of community structures and systems; and A certification in community development and/or community engagement or other qualifications and demonstrated experience in a relevant community-based role, is desirable; Working with Children Blue Card is essential; The role requires the possession of a current “C” Class Open Australian Drivers Licence is essential.For this position we offer:
Salary between $35.12 per hour; Nominally 30 hours per week; 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading pro rata; 12% super (in accordance with policy); Short-term contract is expected to cease Friday 4 October 2020.Position Description
