Council service centres re-open to the community

Published on 07 July 2020

Several face-to-face Council services are now open to the community with new safety precautions and protocols in line with government requirements.

Service centres now open include:

Customer service centres

Council customer service centres in both Warragul and Drouin are now open. Visitors will notice a few new additions including hand sanitising stations, social distancing floor markers and new safety screens in place at front counters (see image below).

Libraries

All libraries in Baw Baw Shire are now open with limits and changes in place. For more information about available services and requirements for each specific location, please call West Gippsland Libraries on 5622 2849 or visit www.wgrlc.vic.gov.au/service-update.

Immunisations

Immunisation sessions are operating at the following locations:

Warragul: Warragul Senior Citizens Hall, Corner of Mason and Barkly Street Drouin: Council Customer Service Centre, 33 Young Street (access via Brynwood Avenue) Trafalgar: Community Service Centre (Senior Citizen Hall), Princes Highway

In order to adhere to physical distancing requirements, there may be a limit placed on the number of visitors at each location. As a result, you may be asked to wait in your car until your appointment. For information about upcoming session times go to Immunisation Schedule 2020.

Maternal and child health services

Face-to-face appointments at our Warragul, Drouin and Trafalgar centres are now available. There is a limit of one parent/carer plus child per appointment. Visitors are asked to wait in their car until the nurse calls them in.

If you or any member of your household is unwell or have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, please contact the team on 5624 2540 to reschedule your appointment.

Phone appointments are still available for families who are not comfortable to attend face-to-face appointments.

Council meetings

A limited number of community members are now welcome to attend Council meetings. In order to manage space limit requirements, pre-registration of attendance is required. If you would like to attend a Council meeting, please register your intent here. Community members who have not registered their intent to attend will not be allowed to attend the Council meeting.

As always, anyone is welcome to tune into the Council meeting livestream from the safety and comfort of your home.

Warragul Leisure Centre

The Warragul Leisure Centre is now open for lap swimming, group fitness and stadiums sports. Bookings are required via www.warragul.ymca.org.au.

More information

To minimise the number of people in Council offices at any one time, current remote work practices will continue for the majority of other Council staff.

A dedicated online information hub is available on Council’s website with useful service updates and information to access support at www.bawbawshire.vic.gov.au/Coronavirus

Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Danny Goss

“We’re pleased to resume some important face-to-face services. Over the last few months, many of you embraced new ways of accessing Council services whether online or over the phone. We thank you for your flexibility and patience.”

“Although our doors are slowly re-opening, if you are able to do so, we encourage you to continue accessing Council services via these alternative methods. It’s making all the difference to help keep our community safe. If you do choose to visit us, we ask you to note the new precautions and protocols for each service and centre, which will be clearly marked. We look forward to seeing you again soon.”
