Council has approved more than $6.5 million in works to maintain its 1270-kilometre road network.
The works are part of three capital works programs and encompass 19 roads in 15 suburbs.
Eight roads in seven Cairns suburbs will be renewed as part of the $2.8 million 2020/21 Major Pavement Rehabilitation Program.
Council has also allocated $2.3 million in the 2020/21 Capital Works Budget for Pavement Rehabilitation W4Q3, which is separate to the annual Pavement Rehabilitation Program.
This program – funded through the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland – will target five roads, including: Aplin St, Cairns city; Riverside Parade, Trinity Park; MacNamara St, Manunda; Lily St, Cairns North; and Petersen Rd, Edmonton.
Council endorsed $1.5 million for its Asphalt Overlay Program, which will address about five kilometres of renewals at 11 Council roads.
