Since May, nine capital works and major maintenance projects with a combined value of $465,000 have been completed as part of the City of Swan’s $8.85 million COVID-19 economic stimulus package.

A refurbishment of Ellenbrook Library was one of the nine projects that took place during the COVID-19 restrictions, comprising of paint work and internal building upgrades.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said this project was an excellent example of the benefits of the City’s economic stimulus package.

“Not only do our community get to enjoy improvements to a valuable community amenity, there is the added benefit of local jobs for local people to help our local economy,” Mayor Bailey said.

“We know a lot of small businesses are experiencing financial difficulties; our priority to commission local companies who employ local residents to undertake the work on City projects.”

Mayor Bailey said the City was always seeking to support local business, and encouraged the community and resident to continue to shop locally.

There are currently six stimulus projects in progress, including a full refurbishment of Gidgegannup CWA, Railway Parade Footpath and Swan Valley tourism signage, with more than 40 projects in the planning stages.

Ellenbrook Library has reopened. Please call 9207 8787 with any questions about opening hours or services.
