Works will begin in Church St from Saturday, July 11, on the replacement of the paved road surface.
The area will be closed to traffic while the pavers are removed over the weekend before the road is asphalted early in the week.
Following the works, the road will remain closed to through traffic to improve the safety of the area.
It comes after short-term changes to the traffic and parking movements in Church St were enacted in and around Junction Square and a subsequent council resolution in 2019.
Bollards will be placed mid-block, allowing vehicles to enter at either end of Church St and leave in the same direction.
The change aims to improve pedestrian safety in the area with a significant reduction in vehicles speeds and through traffic.
Limited parking will still be available in the immediate area to service the businesses in the precinct with a significant increase in parking now available through the opening of the car park next to the temporary green space bounded by High St, Jack Hore Way and Church St.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution and observe signage in the area.
