To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 8 July 2020 ordinary meeting.
Vibrant Communities Council noted the 2020 Municipal Early Years Infrastructure Plan. Council will receive a further report regarding the implementation of funded three-year-old kindergarten and its impact on the plan in March 2021 in preparation for the review of Council's 2021/22 Long Term Infrastructure Plan. Council endorsed Baw Baw Shire to be the host of the Ride Nation, Gippsland pilot, subject to budget funding in the 2020/21 Council Budget. Council adopted the Development Contribution (DCP) Implementation Policy and resolved that the policy be reviewed at the completion of the DCP Review in April 2021. Council noted the submissions received on the Development Contributions Plan Review – Warragul and Drouin (DCP Review) Directions Paper and requested a further report in early 2021, which will include an assessment of infrastructure standards and costings. Council approved application PLA0281/19 for 42 McHugh Road, Longwarry to issue a Notice of Decision to Grant a Permit, subject to conditions, for the use and development of a dwelling and buildings and works associated with horse husbandry. Council approved application PLA0193/19 to issue a permit for a 'Boundary realignment (re-subdivision of two lots)' subject to conditions at 1235 and 1359 Sunny Creek Road, Thorpdale with an amendment to clauses three and four of the permit conditions to remove the reference (10.18) in each condition. Safe and Sustainable Environments Council noted a report developed in response to a petition concerning Weerong Road in Drouin. The report outlined the road maintenance works that have already occurred and future reconstruction works planned, which are included in Council's Long Term Infrastructure Plan. Organisational Excellence Council noted a response to General Business Motion 18.1.2 regarding the impact of Drouin Precinct Structure Plan on vegetation. Council noted the draft Public Transparency Policy and Governance Rules in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020 and resolved to put both items on public exhibition for a two-week period between 9 and 23 July.
