From this Monday (13 July) both the Milne Bay Aquatic Centre and Highfields Fitness and Recreation Centre will extend trading hours for customers.

In line with the State Government’s easing of restrictions, Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee Chair James O’Shea said Council was pleased to be able to welcome back more people.

“There’s no doubt it’s been a challenging period for everyone so it’s pleasing Council can make these changes to get more people back doing what they love,” he said.

“As we continue to operate under a CovidSafe plan, we still have a number of restrictions and protocols in place but are able to offer a broader range of services. In addition to this we have increased cleaning and sanitation protocols in place.

“From Monday we will bring back group exercise classes, the Learn-to-Swim program and will be able to accommodate more people in the facility.

“We know how much impact exercise has on health and well-being, so this is a great result.”

As of 13 July operating hours for both facilities will be Monday – Friday (6am-8pm), Saturday (7am-4pm) and Sunday (7am-12pm).

Services on offer (with social distancing and venue spacing requirements in place) include:

Gym Group exercise classes Learn-to-Swim program Program pool (hydrotherapy) – by booking only due to number restrictions Indoor pools for fitness, recreation and rehabilitation.

All memberships currently on suspension will be resumed as of 13 July but if members wish to remain on suspension they need to contact the centre.
