Public carparks on Seven Mile Beach Road at Broken Head reopened on Friday 10 July 2020.

The four carparks along the road (Kings Beach, Whites Beach, Bray’s Beach, Seven Mile Beach) were closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Byron Shire Council and the National Parks and Wildlife Service have taken the opportunity to clean-up the carparks and install new signage.

Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said people visiting the beaches along Seven Mile Beach Road should make sure they only park in the designated carparks.

“No cars are allowed to park along Seven Mile Beach Road and this is clearly signed so there should be no ambiguity,” he said.

“Seven Mile Beach Road is a narrow, dirt road and it becomes very dangerous when drivers ignore the signs and park along the verges.

“Traffic cannot get through and this is simply not acceptable, particularly if there is an emergency and Police, Ambulance or other emergency services need to get access,” Mr Holloway said.

Council’s Enforcement team will be patrolling the road daily and people who are not parked in the designated carparks will be issued with fines.
