The NSW-Victorian border remains closed with a number of checkpoints and road closures in place across our region.
As of 12.01am Wednesday 8 July, the NSW-Victoria border has been temporarily closed. Checkpoints are operating at the following locations: - Alpine Way - Delegate Road - Monaro Highway
Road closures are in place at: - Barry Way (end of sealed section) - Haydens Bog Road/Lower Bendoc Road (checkpoint staffed 7am to 5pm) - Big Flat Road
The permit is valid for 14 days from the date of issue and applies to all borders: land, air and sea, as well as river crossings. Your permit will indicate if you need to self-isolate for 14 days, get tested for COVID-19 or any other conditions
What should Snowy Monaro residents do who have visited Victoria?
Confusion around this week’s Public Health Order (issued on 8 July) has been addressed by NSW Health.
The NSW Government requires any Victorian or anyone entering NSW from Victoria AFTER Wednesday 8 July to self-isolate for 14 days from the date on which they arrived.
The government’s policy is NOT retrospective, meaning that if you arrived in the Snowy Monaro from Victoria prior to Wednesday 8 July you are not required to self-isolate; however you also need to consider the requirements of the Public Health Order (COVID-19 Interstate Hotspots) issued on 1 July.
There are only limited reasons a person in self-isolation can leave their home, including obtaining medical care, complying with legal obligations, providing an essential service, in an emergency or to leave NSW.
