Gympie Regional Council has today announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Shane Gray will commence in the role on Monday 6 July 2020.

Mr Gray brings with him extensive experience in the both the local government and private sectors.

Having worked as deputy CEO of Murgon Shire Council from 2001-2004 before taking over as CEO of Nanango Shire Council for three years, he is also the former CEO of South Burnett Regional Council.

Prior to his appointment at Gympie, Mr Gray served as a risk coordinator for the Australian branch of Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) and Local Government Mutual Services.

“On behalf of Gympie Regional Council and the region, I would like to welcome Shane to the organisation,” said Gympie region Mayor, Glen Hartwig.

“There are no doubt some hard decisions which still need to be made in the coming weeks, particularly around budget.

“But, Shane’s appointment today is the start of a new chapter for this Council and by extension, the region and community.

“I would also like to thank Pauline Gordon for stepping into the acting CEO role,” Mayor Hartwig said.
