The Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia has made the decision to postpone the 35th National Rally which was scheduled to take place in Gympie from Sunday, 27 September to Sunday, 4 October 2020.

The rally, which is an event that attracts several thousand CMCA members and RV enthusiasts, has been postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gympie Rally Manager Richard Mainey says the news is disappointing, however under the circumstances they were left with little choice.

“The organisation and costs that go into a rally greatly increase in the months leading up to the event and with current restrictions in place we cannot take the risk financially of cancelling it at shorter notice.”

Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig says it’s incredibly disappointing to hear that the CMCA has postponed this year’s rally.

“Many events across the country and local institutions including The Gympie Show and the Gympie Music Muster have all been affected by COVID-19.

“Given the current restrictions and financial pressures that many organisations face I understand why the decision has been made.”

“I can’t wait to have the National Rally come to Gympie next year, as it will be a great opportunity to showcase our great region to so many travellers.
