Blue Mountains City Council has waived sportsground fees for the current Winter and next Summer season, to support the community following bushfires and COVID-19.
The elected Council endorsed the move at the meeting on Tuesday, 30 June that means a $95,000 saving for local sports.
Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “This is a way Council can support local sports clubs given the challenges we’ve had the past six months.
“I’d like to thank the Blue Mountains Sports Council for their support of this decision.
“These fees are normally used for the renewal and upgrade of sportsground facilities, so this can be a temporary measure only. But the measure comes at a really important time for our community.”
