Pool-goers looking to make a splash at Dalby Aquatic Centre will be treated to some snazzy new features this summer as Western Downs Regional Council prepares to install new shade sails and sun lounges at the facility.
The upgrade is part of Council’s Accelerated Infrastructure Program which is included in the huge $50 million COVID-19 Recovery Package.
Council Spokesperson for Strategic Communications and Council Facilities Councillor Megan James said the upgrade would encourage sun safety for patrons while also supporting local school carnivals and club events with additional shading.
“The Dalby Aquatic Centre is a community favourite and is enjoyed by locals all year round so we’re excited to see a new shade structure and lounging area constructed over the following months,” Cr James said.
“The new shade sails will not only add to the overall appearance of the Dalby Aquatic Centre, but they will also ensure sun safety which is extremely important at our local pools.
“This project is included in our Accelerated Infrastructure Program which plays a part in our COVID-19 Recovery Package and focuses on creating local jobs while improving our communities’ infrastructure.
“The Accelerated Infrastructure Program involves a suite of projects across the region which are currently in the works and I’m looking forward to seeing our active vibrant communities enjoy the improved facilities.”

The shade structure will be complimented with powder coated reclining sun lounges to further enhance user experience for the community.
