Ararat on the Move project works update

The Ararat on the Move project is continuing to progress well despite COVID-19 restrictions.

Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said work on the Premier Sporting Facility Development – Development of Netball Courts and Upgrade of Olver Grandstand project is going well with contractors ensuring they adhere to social distancing rules and other COVID-19 restrictions.

Dr Harrison said another Ararat on the Move project – work at the Ararat Skate Park to build a multi-use ball court and bouldering wall – is also going well.

“There have been some delays with the netball court surface due to weather as the final surface coat and line marking needs to be done in fair weather,” he said.

“All the courts’ civil work has been completed and the surrounding landscaping will be completed soon.”

Dr Harrison said work on the events space at the front of the Olver Stand has started with demolition work completed and earthworks to start very soon.

“A new administration building is being constructed at the rear of the Olver Stand, which we hope to finish very soon,” he said.

At the Ararat Skate Park, earthworks and pavement work for the multi-purpose ball court and, lighting work aimed at improving safety at the facility, are both progressing well.

Dr Harrison said recently the footings for the bouldering wall and retaining wall were poured.

“We want to reassure the community that Council has continued to progress work on this project – and other projects – despite the coronavirus restrictions.”
