Council brings nature to you

Council is launching a new podcast to help raise the profile of the animals and plants within the naturally biodiverse Macedon Ranges.

The Macedon Ranges Nature Pod can be streamed directly to any computer or smart device and played whenever and wherever you want!

Initially three podcasts will focus on sounds in nature that you might experience in your own backyard.

Learn how to identify frog calls and common day and night backyard birds with audio clues and fact sheets you can download.

Director Planning and Environment Angela Hughes says development of the series was fast-tracked when most events in the environmental program were cancelled.

“Our environmental program activities are often sold out so we know there is interest from the local community. With tight pandemic restrictions in place we wanted to develop content that residents can enjoy from their own homes.

“Macedon Ranges is a biodiversity hotspot and your backyard is no exception – I encourage you to check out this fantastic environmental education podcast that can help us all conserve biodiversity in the region.”
