Digital loan items skyrocket during COVID

Wodonga Library's e-services proved popular for book lovers when the building closed its doors due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The digital loan of eBooks accessed via the Borrowbox app showed an average of 571 per cent increase in usage during April and May compared to the same time last year.

The demand for eBooks, audio books, eMagazines and eFilms resulted in 263 new users join during the lockdown and these users alone borrowed an additional 972 eAudio books and 802 eBooks.

Wodonga Library added an additional 196 eAudio books and 286 eBooks to its digital collection during the lockdown.

The library's book clubs moved online during the lockdown, taking advantage of the eBooks available and having virtual meetings.
