Finding an available car parking space in the Church Street shopping precinct will soon be much easier.
From Wednesday 22 July 2020, weather permitting, we’re installing 10 electronic car parking signs that communicate with in-ground sensors to display where car parking spaces are available in real time. The in-ground sensors also communicate with the UbiPark app and website, so you can plan ahead for parking. Please note, the app system is currently in a trial phase.
Works to install the 10 dynamic and four supporting static signs are timed for weekday mornings from 6am until 11am to minimise disruption. There will be no noisy works before 7am. Each sign will take around five hours to install over two days. However, some signs may require works until 5pm to complete the footings.
While works are in progress, up to three adjacent car parking spaces may be restricted for contractor vehicles. If pedestrians cannot walk safely around the work site, directions to a nearby alternate pathway will be provided.
More information about the car parking technology project is available in a Frequently Asked Questions document (PDF, 4.43MB).
