WENDY TUCKERMAN: Power and Play for Gundaroo

Power generation and children’s play equipment will form an unlikely but useful synergy at Gundaroo Park, with the installation of a battery storage solar power system, with the panels incorporated into a new permanent shade structure built over the playground.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman today said the NSW Government’s significant $55,724 investment in the community will fund the project, thanks to the Stronger Country Communities Fund.

“The shade over the playground will make the facility safer and more usable, while the battery solar system will reduce power costs, with savings redirected to improvements and maintenance.

“Given that Gundaroo relies on pumps in the absence of reticulated water, this investment will also secure the water supply bore that’s used in fire emergencies and keep the amenities block operating.

“Gundaroo Park is a vital part of village life, providing a facility for sport and recreation within the community. As an approved Primitive Camping Ground, it is also vital for visitors, especially for special events including music festivals and car clubs.

Ron Miller, Gundaroo Park Trust Manager welcomed the NSW Government Funding.

“Gundaroo's population is growing. This ensures the future of the local school and the village itself, but also adds to the need for new and improved community assets in the village including the Park. Grant programs like this are invaluable in providing these and we’re very grateful to the Government for them,” Mr Miller said.

The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
