Council wins at 2020 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards

Blue Mountains City Council has won the NSW Government Excellence Award for Innovative Leadership and Management, in the category of Council’s with populations under 100,000.

The award, announced on 14 July, was for the Council’s Forward Together project that included an Organisational Performance Review and the outcomes it produced and continues to produce.

Council will now represent NSW at the National Level Local Government Excellence Awards.

Chief Executive Officer Dr Rosemary Dillon said: “The project was a best practice, innovative and strategic approach to strengthening Council’s overall culture, structure and business performance and resulted in our Improvement Strategy and Action Plan 2019-2021.

“It is fitting that we have received this award at the one-year anniversary of the introduction our organisation’s new operating model and structure, that resulted from the project.

“I am so proud of this achievement which can only be credited to team work and the contributions made at every level of the organisation, by so many staff.

“Council is committed to building a sustainable and successful future for the Blue Mountains.”

Mayor Mark Greenhill said the organisation should be congratulated, on state-wide recognition of the recent review and improvement strategy.

“Council continues to deliver an extensive range of services across the 27 towns and village within the City of the Blue Mountains,” Mayor Greenhill said.

“I congratulate the CEO and staff on this exceptional win and their continued dedication to serving our City.” Other finalists in this category at the NSW Local Government Excellence Awards included City of Canada Bay Council, Clarence Valley Council, Goulburn-Mulwaree Council, Port Stephens Council and Waverley Council.
