Faceless youth, lost souls and tech-wise canines were all featured in the winning entries for Armidale Regional Library’s a Live it. Create it. Share it competition, inviting local youth to share their experiences about COVID-19.

The library has announced the winners of the four $250 EFTPOS cards:  17-25 age category •Sarah Walls – Little Boy Lost poem •Christian Dick – Faceblind photo 12-16 age category •Hugh Shipman – On the Phone, Leave Me Alone photo •Aliyah Snapes – Polish drawing

“There was a number of high quality entries, both in their creativity and the insight they provided to how COVID-19 affected young people in our region,” Project Librarian Elizabeth Thomas said.

“Testing times quite often inspire the greatest artistic expression and it would seem the past few months of COVID self-isolation are no exception.

“The competition judges found it highly rewarding, witnessing the exceptional artistic talent of our young people and learning more about how youth are experiencing and responding to the pandemic.”

Live it. Create it. Share it was held to coincide with Youth Week celebrations, inviting young people to choose how they expressed themselves.

Entrants used poems, photographs, sculpture and short stories to share their thoughts and experiences.
