Residents should be aware that significant changes to the previous arrangements for movement across the NSW-Victoria border will come into effect at midnight on Tuesday 21st July 2020. These include:
A much reduced “border community zone”, shown in blue on the attached map. This is intended to be supplemented by an interactive search tool that will enable people to type in an address to see if it is inside or outside the border zone: residents should check the State Government’s COVID-19 website [ https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19] for this function.Residents from within the border zone may travel to locations within the Victorian border zone and return without having to self-isolate, but only if they have a border permit and only for work or education (if that cannot be performed remotely). In addition, ALL residents (whether living inside the border zone or not) may travel to a location within the Victorian border zone and return without having to self-isolateTravel for any reason to areas of Victoria beyond the border zone will require self-isolation for 14 days on return to NSWAll permits issued to date will automatically expire at midnight on Tuesday 21st July and new permits will have to be obtained. The permit system is expected to go “live” at approximately 4pm on Tuesday 21st July. While Council staff are available to assist residents needing help with permits, Council can NOT issue these – applications must be made online. For regular updates and more information, go to the State Government’s COVID-19 website [https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19].
