We're closing the Bunny Woods area of the Point Lonsdale Foreshore to undertake revegetation works. Our foreshore areas protect our roads, parks and community from erosion and storms. We need to repair some of the damage that has recently occurred to vegetation and the ground in this area to make sure it doesn't have long-term impacts for our community.
If you’re looking for a place to ride your bike, you’re welcome to use the track opposite Point Lonsdale Primary School. We've also written to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning about keeping the Humps and Bumps track in Point Lonsdale open to riders, but you can continue riding there for now while we seek further clarification. Wherever you ride, please respect coastal vegetation by keeping to established tracks.
We also know that some of our local riders are looking for something more challenging, so Council is looking into options for a more substantial bike track in the Borough. We've written to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning asking for their support for this project, and we’re looking forward to involving riders in designing this track. We appreciate everyone's help protecting our coastal vegetation while we get started on this project. The less time our engineers spend fixing damaged vegetation, the more time they can spend creating an even better bike track.
